    February 8, 2025 LINT meeting

    in conjunction with

    "So set 'em up..."

Whether you remember the lyric from a George Strait song,

or even an earlier Frank Sinatra song,

there is a sentiment requiring Preparation.

And instrument set-up is essential preparation for improved playability.

    February LINT Meeting

    Saturday February 8, 2025

Through the generous collaboration with the TCC Library staff of the Trinity River campus, LINT will meet in Downtown Fort Worth.

Building TREF (room across the hall from the library)

We will have our regular agenda and quality of presentation. Since this will also be open to interested students, we anticipate this being the first exposure for many to the art of building and repair.

    We will have:

    • "So, Set 'Em Up" ;  Multiple Live Presentations and answers about Instrument set-up:
      • What am I looking for?
      • How do I get the best results out of this instrument for my playing style?
    • Access to the LINT library
    • Specialty class schedules discussed
    • bi-monthly meeting schedule and agenda.
    • And our regular Swap-&-Sell and Show-&-Tell.

    JUNE 10, 2023 LINT Meeting!

    Location Announcement:

We are excited to share that we will be meeting at Tim Pilson’s shop in Mansfield where he builds acoustic guitars.

(Go to Events tab for address and registration)

Guitar Setup :  Easy as 1-2-3
How to get any guitar playing great in just 3 simple steps. Setup is the final step in guitar building and leaves one of the biggest impressions to the player. No matter how beautiful in sound and appearance a guitar is, if it is difficult to play or has buzzing and dull notes, the player will perceive the guitar to have fundamental problems. A great setup is an easy way to stand out and establish value. I will be giving a presentation and demonstrating how to get a great setup on every guitar, everytime, using a few simple tools and a simple process.

Please bring any of your favorite setup tools and tips to share.

As always, this meeting will also have “Swap & Sale” and “Show & Tell”
So bring tonewoods or tools you'd like to sell or trade and your current projects to discuss.

Some of us remember the Lite Beer ads that ran from 1973 to 1991 that featured John Madden, Rodney Dangerfield, Bob Uecker, and numerous other stars and athletes arguing about the "Tastes Great, Less Filling" tag line. Well when talking about which sides are better - solid or laminated - you can now hear similar preferences such as :

    Great Tone - More Stable

    Presentation on Side Lamination

at Lame Horse Guitars Burleson workshop.

There will be a discussion and demonstration of all things about side laminations - when does it make sense or when it doesn't.  A number of experienced builders will present multiple proven methods, techniques and applications for side laminations.

    Live demos are planned.

This just might be the answer to the design decision for your next build.

Go to Events in the top banner for more info & to register.
