Bo inspired me to work out some of the steps on less expensive materials. This is one of my "tuition" to lutherie guitars. I hadn't thought about actually building the pieces as one guitar, but why not? After I got the boards milled up I had enough for two sets. Wood for both came from one cedar fence picket, one doug fir 2x4, one red oak 1x12, some poplar hobby wood and scrap plywood and white wood. Truss rod, kerfing and tuners bought elsewhere.

stumbled across this curly piece of red oak in the stacks at Home Depot and rescued it before someone turned it into a shelf

this 1x12 should get me enough for two full sets. this is my "tuition" piece for learning to re-saw. these tuition guitars may end up looking like a piece of furniture but I love the 3-D pop it has.

WRC fence picket sliced up for a four-piece top. Had enough left over for a second top too. Not bad for $6.

There are very few things more satisfying than a sharp hand plane. This Wards Master #4 was a rusty $3.00 flea market find. After some love and restoration she's turned into one of my favorite tools
